Minister of National Education Nabi Avcı and Dr. Sare Davutoğlu, the spouse of Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, visited the Ministry of National Education Communications Center (MEBİM 147) in the township of Erciş in the eastern Van province which was built after the Van earthquake on October 23, 2011. The center was inaugurated in 2012 by the Ministry of National Education as show of support for the people of Erciş whose town was the hardest hit by the quake.

Davutoğlu responded to the call of a teacher at the call center by saying, “This is the Education Communications Center, I am Sare, how can I help you?” The teacher responded “I was serving as a nurse at the Ministry of Health and my status as a candidate teacher was revoked. Now I am a teacher. Will I again become a candidate?”

Davutoğlu replies: “I am happy that you served as a nurse. We really have to increase the number of nurses. I am Sare Davutoğlu, the wife of the prime minister. I am visiting Erciş with our Minister of National Education so I dropped by the call center. I will relay your problem to our colleagues. We have your particulars here. We will return to you with a response. I wish you success and greetings and please extend my best wishes to your students. I also convey the greetings of our Minister of National Education.”

After this Sare Davutoğlu and Minister Avcı had their photo taken with the personnel of the call center. She also chatted with the citizen representative for the handicapped.

Appointment of teachers in August

Asked by the call center personnel whether there will be a teacher’s appointment in April or May because they are receiving such queries frequently from teachers at the call center Minister Avcı said there will no appointments now and that the appointment of teachers will be in August.
