Minister Avcı: Quality of vocational and technical education will be enhanced

Minister of National Education Nabi Avcı was met with flowers as he arrived at the hall where the 9th International Robotics Competition is being held as part of the 100th year celebrations of the Çanakkale Victory.

Minister Avcı first viewed the folk dances organized at the Terzioğlu Campus of the Çanakkale March 18 University and the toured the stands of the schools taking part in the competition.

Minister Avcı speaking at the opening of the ceremony for the competition said “the 8th International Robotics Competition was held in Eskişehir last year. The theme then was the Silk Road. This year the theme is the Çanakkale Victory as this is the 100th year of the victory and thus we are holding the competition in Çanakkale. I take this occasion to once again remember our martyrs with blessing and benediction. I wish from the Almighty benediction for all those martyrs who left us this wonderful homeland and these values. Today is also the anniversary of the Soma mine disaster. I once again wish benediction and blessings to the 301 miners who were martyred at the mine.”

Minister Avcı said the Robotics Competition enhances the knowledge of the young people to see the relatinship between technology, science and format and said the Ministry of Education attaches great importance to this regarding vocational training and added “in the years to come we have great projects to enhance vocational and technical training. Hopefully we will achieve this together. So what is the summary of all this. It is a pencil. That is why we who are involved in education carry a pencil in our pockets. A pencil and a notebook. All professional great designs start with a pencil and a paper. So never severe your friendship with these tools.

After his speech Minister Avcı picked the lots for the competition and then went up to the stands and had his photos taken with the students.

The ceremony ended with a robot show at the competition named after the Çanakkale Wars. Çanakkale Deputy İsmail Kaşdemir, Çanakkale Governor Ahmet Çınar, Çanakkale University Rector  Prof. Dr. Yücel Acer, school administrators, teachers and students attended the event.
